Journey...

We should pause for a minute. Think of your individual story. Ponder the paths which have led you to where you are. Now, think of a close friend. What does her journey look like? What about his? We could ask the same question repeatedly concerning parents, children, loved ones, untrusted ones, etc. Many of us know a little thing or two about a lot of people. I wonder if our perspective would change if we knew the whole story... the entire journey?

It's fascinating isn't it? Everyone we meet has a different story. A journey all together their own. A path uniquely designed especially for them.

As we travel, something amazing takes place. As we chase after our individual destiny, we find ourselves crossing paths or simply bumping into each other. How does this happen? Aren't you on a different path? Aren't you pursuing a different way of life? Regardless of the questions, the facts remain. We are here. We're together.

Where to next? Isn't that our next impulse? Why are we such a people of destination? After all, isn't the journey and the people we meet along the way more important that the destination? I hope our paths are crossing and together we're slowly learning to answer... yes.

This goes out to all of us who have found ourselves in strange places and lonely paths. May the journey lead us head first into stronger relationships and deeper friendships.
May once viewed strangers become family. May we discover that the journey isn't to get us to a particular point, it's to get us to a special person. Or perhaps it's to create a special person inside of us.

May clear roads be ahead...

a friend of mine (fike) made an interesting comment to me yesterday after we talked for a while about this central issue. for me as a fast-paced dreamers, it's easy to see what i want to be doing on the journey and how the lord is saying "no" to things. fike asked me, "well, what is He saying 'yes' to?" brilliant. difficult, yes. but it's helped me push the pause button on other dreams in a way that's more liveable in the now. apparantly sugar and truth have a lot in common, because they both made the medicine go down.

BK, for those of us with a pioneering nature, it's always difficult to be fully present. We live in the beyond... inside the dreams of what could be.

I've been desperately trying to stay "in the moment" as much as I can. I don't want to look back and see faces of people... relationships that I was too driven for. I'm trying to let life simmer a bit these days.

Remember, fine wine takes time!

PS, thank you for sharing the journey with me! I've never traveled without you... you are my inspiration, my compass, my anchor.

You've enabled me to make a home wherever I am! Hmmm.... home. Such a great place!

Much love!

While I agree that the we must live in the present and pay attention to what the journey is teaching us, I also think that we must never lose sight of why we are on the journey in the first place and thus where the journey will ultimately take us, where we will end up. Some people get so caught up in the present and the lessons of the journey that their journey comes to a halt. They get stuck in one place and loose sight of the purpose of their journey as a whole. Then when the next phase of the journey is presented sometimes people don't see it as another opportunity for growth, but instead as a step away from the place they have grown comfortable in. So enjoy the journey, milk every moment for what it is, learn every lesson God puts infront of you to learn, but don't get stuck in one phase of the journey by forgetting where you are journeying to.

Names, I couldn't agree more! I was actually going to write about this "second layer" at another time.

There's no possible way to write from all angles... each entry would be much longer than anyone really cares to read. However, it's great to bring up different perspectives. I like it. Thank you!

At the end of the day, let me just gently remind you that life, to me, is really all about relationships. It's about people like you and I. It's about finding our way to one another after all these years.

How cool is that?
