If you're like me, you're going to see the Bourne Ultimatum this weekend. Sometimes I like to hit the "before noon" film at the AMC on Saturday. It's only four bucks! However, some movies are opening night movies. I think this one qualifies. Maybe we should all see it tonight at the same time. What do you think?I'm not just a Bourne fan either. I'm a pretty big Matt Damon fan. How about you?
I've been told by a few people over the years that I look like Matt. Perhaps they meant that as a compliment. I'm sure they didn't set out to be offensive. Now, this isn't the worst thing anyone has ever said about me. Don't get me wrong. But, seriously, it's a pretty good blow.
Let's look at the facts. I'm far better looking than Matt, wouldn't you agree? I'm taller... maybe not. I have a much better accent (the Boston thing just gets old). Body wise, I'm much more ripped. And, I can definitely take him to town on the basketball court! I'm not sure I can dance around in my whitey's (The Talented Mr. Ripley) quite like him. That's probably not such a bad thing! All in all, I'm still a huge fan of his work. Good Will Hunting is one of my all time favorites. It's gotta be in the top five. Other titles include School Ties, The Rainmaker, Saving Private Ryan, Rounders, Ripley, Ocean's Eleven (Twelve & Thirteen), Syriana, The Departed, The Good Shepherd, and the Bourne series. It's alright if you missed All the Pretty Horses, Stuck on You, and The Brothers Grimm. Confession... I did too!
Damon simply is Jason Bourne. He plays the role with precision and perfection. There is no Bourne outside of Damon. He allows you believe in a character most would dismiss. There is an integrity that flows out of Bourne. Matt causes you to root for this scarred man. You're with him regardless of the price. Here's to buying a ticket and seeing the film! Maybe you'll think of me when you see the Bourne Ultimatum. Maybe you'll think of me when you see Matt Damon. Maybe you'll actually write a comment about something today. Maybe I'll come hunt you down if you don't. I remember... I remember everything!

Bo! We love this movie! We are probably going to get the first 2 watch them and then head to the theater for the new one tonight or tomorrow night!
Link fixed over on my blog!
I've been told I look like Vanilla Ice, is that a good thing?
Russ, I'm thinking like the midnight showing tonight!
Vanilla Ice... sorry bro! I don't think that's a good thing. I'm not sure you look like him. But you can flow a lil'. Maybe that's it.
I mean, really, how many white dudes can break out the rap/hip hop? You and Ice are just too fly for me!
Bo, Matt Damon definitely reminds me of you! Something in the mouth. It is most definitely a compliment, too. Just don't pick up his alleged habit of chain smoking--not that you would.
Saw it. Loved it. Want to see more.
I think the whole vanilla ice thing was when I was a lot younger and a lot skinnier, plus back in the day I used to have the whole white guy swoosh on my forehead. Wow. I wish I had pics.
Amy, glad you could make it!
Most people say it's the nose and smile. I guess the mouth is in there somewhere too. It's definitely a compliment!
Yeah, don't worry. Smoking just isn't one of my vices. However, we do share a knack for fancy one liners. "You like apples..."
Russ, just got back from the movie myself. I absolutely loved it!
It gives the first one a run for the money. Damon is just the man!
Maybe a 4th installment could pit Bourne verses Jack Bauer. I'm not sure who I'd bet on. I may have to go with Bourne.
Interesting. I think Bourne would come out victorious. Might be cool to have them work alongside each other. Bauer could be the handler, while Bourne does the field work. Jack's getting a little old.
P.S. I was in BAM (Books A Millon) the other day and saw a fourth Bourne book. Does this mean there may be a fourth movie? Who knows. HOWEVER, the author of the Bourne trilogy did NOT write this fourth book, so not sure if it's even any good.
haven't seen the movie yet...def plan to. i also haven't seen harry potter or transformers. the last movie i saw was ratatouille (sp?) b/c one of my friends kids surrounded me at church and made me promise to go see it with them that evening. oh fatherhood and your time demands/constraints! i'll take the trade off though.....all day, everyday.
Ben! Good to hear from you again!
Fatherhood... I may have to rethink the whole thing. Life without Transformers and The Bourne Ultimatum just wouldn't be the same.
I've got an idea. Call a babysitter and check out the film. It's that easy. (Maybe not)
It's not really that easy. Especially with my parents being out of the country. But, that's not an excuse, it's just an explanation of why I haven't seen it yet. But, your comment that it may rival the first is certainly inticing! BTW, do you read any of the MMI blog (monday morning insight)? I really like it and think you would too.
Ben, understood!
I haven't even heard of the MMI. I was thinking about Mission Impossible when I read those letters for some reason though.
Hmm... maybe I should check it out. Only Monday love, eh? No Thursday Morning Insight? Slacker!
If I was there, I'd keep Levi for ya! Everyone needs to see this film like yesterday!
Hey! I loved Jason Borne when I first read the book years ago. I was shocked when they cast Matt Damon in that role. However, I was fine with the casting after the first film.
You and Matt share a serious look and smiles. I really saw it in Bagger Vance.
Ps
PS, glad to have you back!
It's not everyday you hear a shout out for Bagger Vance! I may actually watch it again.
I can't imagine Bourne being anyone other than Damon. It's in the same league as Harrison Ford/Indiana Jones. I mean could you imagine George Clooney being Indiana Jones? That's just not right!
We'll see a fourth Bourne... after 70+ million, it's a definite!
Wait, is that a macbook in your pic?
I'm officially envious if so...
Russ!
Say hello to envy. Her kiss is a tad bittersweet.
Yep, it's an iBook. I'm really hoping to get a new one soon. If that actually happens, you are more than welcome to this one.
Once you go mac, you don't go back. Be careful my friend!
I'll take you up on that offer.
We just got a macbook pro for the a/v stuff here at HOJ. It's sweet, but alas, I never get to use it since I'm not the A/V guy...haha.
It runs so much more stable and quick than our old notebooks.
Anyways, my dream setup is a parallel mac/pc office. Macs for all my creative stuff like graphic design/web/video/music stuff...and pcs for gaming.
Russ!
Here's to all of our dreams! May they be realized at some stop along the journey.
